The question as to whether Christian musicians should start focusing on their music and ministration rather than filling for nominations for such awards, or having to organize their own is back to the board for discussion. When some entertainment analysis started the discussion of suspending the “Gospel Album of the Year” to some of us it was not just a rumor but a move that was being planned.
The big question is, is this an attack on Christian music? Or a signal to challenge Christian musicians to do more? The year under review saw quiet a good number of albums within this category, but according to the board they didn’t find enough albums with a minimum of three hits to merit nominations. Do they look for? Or wait for nominations to be filed?? Just asking? And if indeed they were at least able to find two people within this category can’t they still go ahead and put them up for voting?
Well we thank God for the grace period, let’s see if our dear Christian musicians will put in more work or seat up with their input.
Did I hear right? On the move to stop filing nominations for such awards and looking to concentrate on our music. That’s not bad idea, and may be trying to get our arts right, putting more into publicity, mastering our content to more Godly and spirit filled. This will be a great remedy to having people tell us what they think about our music, to having to be blessed listening to them. All is not lost yet as some of our urban guys made it for nomination, could this also be signal for Urban Gospel? And the need for board to start looking into a category for this genre? As we for see a lot of activities of singles, albums, and some international ministrations.
