Today’s Devotion – DISTRESSED DENIAL

“Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew”

– Matthew 26:74

A story was told of a young lady who was the last and only female child in a family of four children and loved so much by her family. Desiring to a young man who was not approved by her family, she eloped with him. Triggered by anger and disappointment, the family rejected the proposal. She decided to approach the law court to seek redress. On the day of hearing, she publically denied knowing her parents and siblings, to their dismay. This was the case with Peter in our text, who shamefully denied Jesus. It is very easy to deny Jesus in your temptation-laden campus and school.. Like Peter, you may think it is impossible but 1 Corinthians 10:12 warns, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” You shamefully deny Jesus when you gossip, slander fellow students, compromise in examinations, attend worldly parties, dress immodestly and disobey teachers. To uphold the name of Jesus, live a holy life and be example of believers in all your dealings.

Challenge: Uphold Jesus in your daily life.
Prayer: Lord, help me to resist every temptation to deny you.
Quote: Be example of believer
