“Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow”
Commitment is a promise to do something or to behave in a particular way to someone. Youths, by their impulsive nature often make swift commitments that they sometimes fail to uphold. This is unlike God who never fails in His covenant. He has made an everlasting covenant with man in Christ Jesus. To be a covenant child of God, therefore, you must have a relationship with Him. Do you have a relationship with God? The foundation for everlasting commitment to God is new birth in Christ. Romans 3: 23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Give your life to Christ if you have not done so. This means acknowledging your sins, confessing and forsaking them, trusting God to forgive you and receiving Christ by faith. This gives you the right to have a relationship with God and to make an everlasting commitment to Him. To sustain your commitment, you need to fellowship with God’s children, live in obedience to God’s Word and pray always.
